This role will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing RAS projects and research related to sustainable aquaculture feed development. Red Sea native species are the focus, but research is to be carried out on other farmed species as required.

Position Description and Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for the overall planning, comparative analysis and implementation of indoor recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) according to operational needs.
  • To oversee RAS improvement projects to ensure completion within timeline, scope and designated resources.
  • To formulate and implement SOP for RAS in accordance with world’s best aquaculture practices.
  • To ensure compliance with world best aquaculture practices
  • To manage health checks, sample collection and analysis to improve efficacy and operational efficiency for the fish production units.
  • To support in water quality surveillance, equipment maintenance, feed preparation, testing and research for improved fish health
  • Actively participate in the strategic development of the Section
  • Assist in mobilizing resources in support of new research activities.
  • Develop productive partnerships to further RAS research, including key international and national research institutes.

Requirements


  • Passion for NEOM’s mission to deploy the latest technologies to achieve Food Security.
  • Advanced understanding of the science of aquaculture RAS production systems.
  • Knowledge of best management practices for aquaculture RAS production systems.
  • Proven experience in RAS system operations.
  • Project management, including developing project strategy and simultaneously managing multiple workstreams/projects.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to recognize and address difficulties that develop throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in English, fluency or working knowledge in Arabic is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience of working in developing countries in Africa and/or Asia.
  • Knowledge of aquaculture-related technology and software function

    • University or college degree in biological science or a related field with associated industry experience.
    • Technical background in Aquaculture or a related field
    • Experience in Project Management
    • Network within industry or research
